How did you and your husband meet?
Our parents grew up together and were best friends so we have grown up together since we were little babies and have known each other for a lifetime!
How did he propose?
In bed, the day before my birthday. He walked into the room with breakfast and a Mimosa singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to me. I told him my birthday was actually the following day and that he got it wrong – he apologised before placing my breakfast down and then dropping the knee. He actually proposed with a plane gold band as a joke before getting the real diamond out and doing it properly.
What was your vision for your wedding day?
Modern, simple and elegant with whites/ green florals on the tables which our stylist nailed the brief. We also wanted it to be fun and spend most of the night on the dancefloor so we got most of our formalities done nice and early.
Where did you look for your wedding inspiration?
Instagram, it only took a few searches for my entire algorithm changed to everything ‘wedding’ so it was quite easy haha.
What drew you to your gown from Helen Rodrigues Bridal?
I saw a post from one of the wedding venues I was searching and loved the brides dress. I went on a big lurking spree and found it was a Helen Rodrigues gown and booked an appointment. It was exactly what I wanted without being to much.
What was your wedding planning journey like for you? How far out did you start planning?
Stressful! Haha. We got married within 6 months & had quite a large number of guests (230ppl). Although once we had booked in all of our vendors it was actually quite smooth sailing.
What was the biggest decision you had to make?
Which vendors to use! Haha. And how big to make our marquee that we were using as a dancefloor.
What was the highlight of your wedding day for you?
The dancefloor – And the down time we had with our bridal party in the bridal room just before the wedding. In this time we had no photographers or videographers around it was just us and the bridal party dancing before entering the reception.
Is there anything you would do differently?
No, everything ran super smooth on the day with no hiccups! If I could do it again, I wouldn’t stress over all the little things I was worried about which actually didn’t matter on the day.
Is there any advice you would give other #HRBride’s?
Everything always comes together & works out! Especially if your have good/ reliable vendors – they are a game changer
