The Meeting
We met in highschool, sharing friendship groups and attending the same events. We started dating whilst in University.
The Proposal
Roy proposed in the Hunter Valley on a perfect Autumn day following a lunch at Bistro Molines for my birthday. I knew our friends were meeting us in the Hunter that night for the weekend but Roy arranged for them to bring my favourite foods for dinner to celebrate. It was very special.
Wedding Day Vision
We had always wanted to get married in the Hunter Valley and after getting engaged there, there could be no better place. I had envisioned lots of greenery, a marquee, lots of good food and of course a big dance party. It was everything I had hoped for and more.
Where did you look for wedding dress inspiration?
I mostly used instagram and occasionally Pinterest to save down inspo pics over time. By the time I had to start looking, I knew that I wanted a classic dress with a corseted bodice which helped to narrow down my search. I also wanted a dress that was somewhat versatile and that I would look back on in years to come and fall in love all over again.
The Wedding Dress: Suzanne Neville Degas from Helen Rodrigues Bridal
I honestly could not fault Helen Rodrigues if I tried. My first ever dress consultation was with Helen Rodrigues and after describing what my vision was, I was directed to the Degas gown. It was the first gown I tried on and I knew straight away that this was the one and nothing else would even compare. I tried on other dresses just to make sure and knew that my heart was set on the Degas gown. The team were wonderful and provided me with options to accessorise the dress with. I ended up choosing gloves and a veil from Helen to go with my Gown. I could tell that Helen and the team were genuinely invested in my experience and I looked forward to each fitting. The overall experience was perfect and I now have such fond memories of the whole process.
“Helen and team were an absolute dream to work with. Helen Rodrigues was the first bridal shop I visited and the first gown I tried on (Suzanne Neville’s Degas gown) was the one. I was blown away by the service and attention to detail I experienced in that first visit. I visited one other bridal shop that same day which did not even compare and cancelled all other appointments before going back for my dream gown. Helen and team made me feel so special in my gown and made sure it was the perfect fit for my wedding day. I honestly could not recommend Helen Rodrigues more! It was the perfect experience from start to finish.”
Wedding Day Highlight
There are so many highlights to choose from honestly! When I think back to our wedding day and night, I vividly remember having the best time on the dance floor with Roy, surrounded by all our friends and family. It felt like we danced for hours and there was so much joy around us. It was so special seeing all of our loved ones coming together to celebrate our marriage.
Advice for future #HRBride’s
I think it’s helpful to have a think about what styles you might like or not like before attending your first consultation, however it’s also important to keep an open mind as you might be surprised at what you find! I would also say to just enjoy the whole experience!
