The Meeting

We met at Uni - it definitely was love at first sight but I took my time before I said yes to a date, 13 weeks (the entire semester) to be exact! Finally I agreed and we've been together for over 9 years now.

The Proposal

In the middle of Shibuya crossing in Tokyo - one of the busiest pedestrian crossings in the world. I had no idea it was coming especially since I had made it very clear a public engagement was my worst nightmare (!!!) but it was so true to who he was, all of that fell away and it just ended up being the most perfect thing.

Wedding Day Vision

Aesthetically, I wanted styling to be clean, classic and unfussy. I wanted guests to feel welcome, individually recognised and like it was a big long weekend of fun for them. For the ceremony, I wanted it to feel traditional yet youthful, true to both who we were when we met, and who we are now. For the reception, I wanted it to feel like a club - safe to say Sam absolutely delivered on that brief.

Where did you look for wedding dress inspiration?

Mostly Instagram - really early on in the process I just started following as many bridal designer and boutique accounts that I could, both in Australia and internationally, so that I could start to get a feel for what I liked/didn't. I knew I was going to be very indecisive about the dress so I gave myself heaps of time to find something in a relaxed way without the time pressure - I would really recommend this to other indecisive brides!

The Wedding Dress: Monique Lhuillier Bliss from Helen Rodrigues Bridal

From the very first appointment, Nicole was just the most amazing stylist, confidant, and all around knowledgeable bridal professional. She could tell I had been to so many appointments prior to coming to HR and was pretty exhausted at not finding anything yet - honestly as soon as I arrived at HR she just took such amazing care of me and took away so much stress and anxiety. Truly I feel so lucky to have had Nicole on my little 'bridal team'. I was very indecisive and she was nothing but patient and encouraging without pressuring me into anything. I really can't thank Nicole and Helen for everything.

Wedding Day Highlight

The vows were without a doubt my favourite part - I really loved enhancing those vows with Oli! The speeches, especially my sister's and Oli's were a close second favourite!

Advice for future #HRBride’s

Give yourself enough time - start earlier than you think you need to as you'll be able to enjoy the process and not feel pressured or stressed by time (when there are so many other variables, at least remove time as one!)
