How They Met
My husband & I met through mutual friends that we had both known for a long time, but somehow we never crossed paths. I ended up working with that mutual friend and was still single and one day he just randomly said to me, I think I have someone good for you. And from then it was history.
The Proposal
He proposed the week of valentine's day last year at the same spot he asked me to be his girlfriend. He told me we were going for dinner at the Fenwick in Balmain then had balloons set up saying “Marry me” on the wharf. Then organised a surprise mini engagement with both our families at Cirque in the Crown.
Wedding Day Vision
The vision I had for my wedding day was very simple - I just wanted it to be a super relaxing and enjoyable day for all guests. I wanted everything to be easy not only for us but for everyone attending also. For the reception I had a very summery vibe in mind as we got married in December. So lots of orange and peachy tones.
Wedding Inspiration
To be honest, I had most of the ideas in my head and then turned to instagram for inspirational photos to show my wedding planner. I was very easy going so I put a lot of trust into my wedding planner Benita and she made only a few photos come to life. Instagram is a great tool because there is so much available for so many different types of weddings.

I went into wedding dress shopping with a very open mind - I didn’t really have a set idea of what I wanted. The Wedding Planning Journey
My wedding planning journey was extremely smooth, I think because I was extremely laid back and I had an amazing wedding planner. I really tried to remain calm and enjoy the whole experience because it's such a beautiful time and you’ll never get that time back. We got engaged 10 months before we got married so we started planning straight away, you definitely need time but can be manageable in a short amount of time too!
Biggest Decision
Probably the church we were going to get married in. This was definitely a hard decision as my husband & I both have family churches that are really close to us.
Wedding Day Highlight
The ceremony was definitely a highlight for me and that feeling of leaving the ceremony married is truly indescribable.
What Would She Change?
I wouldn’t do anything differently! I can definitely say I have no regrets with anything we did. But taking moments in the day to just pause and soak it all up is truly important as it is very easy to get carried away on the day.
Advice for Future #HRBrides
Enjoy the process and try to be as relaxed and calm as possible throughout the whole process. Yes, the wedding day is extremely important, but the reason you are organising the whole thing is to begin a journey with the love of your life and this should remain the centre focus throughout.
