How did you and your husband meet?
B and I met in our first week of our Masters degree at university. It was the first year of COVID and we were doing our first few classes online via zoom. We got put into a breakout group together and spoke very briefly at the time. But once we met in person for the first time, I think it was clear we were both a little obsessed with each other!
How did he propose?
We were travelling through Italy for 3 months. 1 month into the trip, we had met up with a few of our beautiful friends in Tuscany to share a few days together. After the most incredible day exploring the natural springs and a beautiful dinner, my partner and I went for a walk, whilst everybody else decided to go back to the room. Safe to say I was extremely shocked and had no idea in the slightest.. which I absolutely loved!
What was your vision for your wedding day?
My vision was timeless. The venue speaks for itself, and I didn’t want anything flashy in terms of the florals or marquee. I wanted to look back at our wedding photos and think that if we did the same thing in 20 years time, I’d still love it all.
There was a touch to our Italian love with the cornflower blue and limoncello bridesmaids dresses, but otherwise everything was very classic and elegant.
Where did you look for your wedding gown inspiration? (What tools/sites did you use to gather your inspiration)
I think my instagram album labelled “Dream Wedding” was created when I was 16 years old! Instagram was my main source of inspiration, alongside Pinterest.
Tell us about your experience at Helen Rodrigues Bridal and what drew you to your gown?
I think despite loving many of the gowns, the gown I purchased was so suited to me. The colour of the dress was slightly off white, which was really lovely on my complexion. Helen was so wonderful, offering me different options for material, lace etc.
After finding the perfect fit and dress, a touch of lace as kindly recommended by Helen was simply perfection.
“From the very first time we walked into your doors of Helen Rodrigues Bridal, we were greeted with such warmth and kindness. I was not just another sale, Helen truly made such a huge effort to get to know me and my family every single visit. Helen made the whole experience a breeze and brought my dream dress to life – to all brides to be, I cannot recommend Helen and her team more highly! ”
What was the highlight of your wedding day for you?
This is a tough question… there are so many.
I think a highlight was seeing my mum’s reaction when I surprised her with the lace bolero. She came to the first fitting with me and she saw my dress and what I picked, but after going back and speaking with Helen there was something missing. Helen helped me add a touch of lace to my look by fitting me in a lace bolero over the top of my dress – which I worn for the ceremony.
A close second was the moment I walked down the isle and saw B… he was so emotional and excited. I was just so excited to stand there in front of our favourite people and tell him just how incredible he is.
Is there any advice you would give other #HRBride’s?
Take every single moment in as you walk down the isle, and take your sweet time.
